In an exciting turn of events for K-pop fans and die-hard followers of the girl group, South Korea’s own NewJeans have taken control of the American charts with their EP Get Up. Billboard announced (after “processing issues” cause a delay of several days) that the EP has soared to the summit of the Billboard 200 chart, marking a historic moment for the talented artists.

NewJeans, a sensation from South Korea, has broken through the barriers of the American music industry, achieving their very first No. 1 album with "Get Up." The EP's impressive debut on the Billboard 200 not only secures their maiden No. 1 position but also marks their first appearance on this prestigious chart. Prior to this remarkable accomplishment, NewJeans had made waves with multiple singles that landed on the Hot 100 chart, demonstrating their growing influence in the U.S. market.

The long-awaited "Get Up" EP wasted no time in making its mark. With an astonishing 126,500 equivalent album units, according to Billboard, the album burst onto the scene, capturing the hearts of fans across the nation. Of this total, album purchases played a significant role, with 101,500 copies of the EP flying off the shelves during its first frame of availability. Surprisingly, a staggering 99% of these purchases were in the form of CDs, showcasing the enduring appeal of physical albums even in the digital age.

The digital realm also witnessed the power of NewJeans' music, with the EP amassing an impressive 34.39 million streams. This robust streaming performance translated into an additional 24,500 equivalent album units, further solidifying the EP's chart-topping status. It's evident that the combination of traditional album sales and modern streaming platforms has contributed to NewJeans' well-deserved success.

"Get Up" is not only a collective triumph but also a platform for individual achievements within the EP. The lead single, "Super Shy," showcased its staying power by rising to a new peak on the Hot 100 chart, reaching an impressive No. 48 position. The infectious energy and unique musicality of NewJeans undoubtedly played a pivotal role in propelling "Super Shy" to new heights.

However, the magic of "Get Up" doesn't stop there. The EP introduced two more captivating tracks to the American audience: "Cool With You" and "ETA." These dynamic tunes made their debut on the ranking of the most popular songs in America, further cementing NewJeans' position as a force to be reckoned with. "Cool With You" burst onto the scene at No. 93, while "ETA" made an equally impactful debut at No. 81.
