Police responded to the apartments Monday morning around 11:30 and found a deceased 26-year-old female—who police identified as LaPere—with “signs of blunt-force trauma.”

A missing person’s call had been made shortly before police responded, and the death is being investigated by homicide detectives, according to the Baltimore Police’s media advisory.

LaPere was the co-founder and CEO of EcoMap Technologies, a company that automates the process “of digitizing ecosystems,” according to her LinkedIn.

EcoMap released a statement to CBS saying “the circumstances surrounding Pava's death are deeply distressing, and our deepest condolences are with her family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly devastating time.”

A member of the Baltimore Police media relations team told Forbes shortly after 1 p.m. that there were no updates in the investigation.

Earlier this year, LaPere was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list for social impact. Her company works to take information and move it into “free platforms that enable users to navigate them,” making information more accessible to a broader range of people. The company had raised more than $4 million and worked with clients including The Aspen Institute, Meta and the WXR Fund. She attended Johns Hopkins University, where she studied sociology, and launched EcoMap while she was still a student.
