Two American Airlines planes clipped wings while on the runway at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Thursday, though no one was injured in the airport’s latest alarming incident, according to members of Congress who said they were aboard one of the planes.
One of the lawmakers said no one was hurt after the incident.
The wing of American Airlines Flight 5490 struck American Airlines Flight 4522 while taxiing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport at around 12:45 p.m. EDT on Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
Rep. Nick LaLota, R-N.Y., wrote on X shortly after 1 p.m. EDT saying another plane had “bumped into our wing,” though he noted no one was injured in the incident.
