The two minors are detained and facing resisting arrest and gun-related charges, though additional charges are expected as the investigation continues, according to Valerie Hartman, a spokesperson for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri Jackson County Family Court Division.
A third person—an adult—who was being held in connection to the shooting was released yesterday afternoon.
Officials haven’t given details about what led to the shooting, but said on Thursday morning “there was no nexus to terrorism or violent extremism” and that the shooting appeared to stem from a “dispute between several people that ended in gunfire.”
