The 18 victims, found in a village in northern Greece near a popular migrant crossing route, may have been migrants, authorities told multiple outlets — though none have been publicly identified yet.

At least eight villages had reportedly evacuated on Saturday, and Greek fire service spokesperson Ioannis Artopios said an estimated 2,000 people have been rescued by sea.
