One of the most enduring lines in all of superhero fandom comes from the seminal 1986 graphic novel “Watchmen.”

The line? “Who will watch the Watchmen?”

That rhetorical question is exactly what it sounds like. When a group claims to be an arbiter of truth on what’s “good,” who’s actually going to hold them to account?

That question feels incredibly apropos in the aftermath of the cowardly murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem.

And that’s because the “Watchmen,” in this case — the establishment media and vile leftist Democrat leaders — clearly were not watched nearly enough in the months and years leading up to Kirk’s death.

Just look at this “fatwa against Charlie Kirk” from the Southern Poverty Law Center, as dug up by The Federalist CEO Sean Davis:

“SPLC is a domestic terrorist organization that issued a fatwa against Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA earlier this year,” a clearly furious Davis posted to social media platform X. “They put a target on Charlie’s back and all but called for his assassination.

“SPLC scheming also previously incited a mass shooting attempt on the Family Research Council. This is what they do.

“It’s time for terrorist organizations to finally be treated like terrorist organizations. Enough is enough.”

The late May article can be found here, but for the sake of your sanity, I’d recommend just taking my word for what it says.

Filed under “Dismantling White Supremacy,” that should tell you all you need to know about what this SLPC piece’s thesis is: Charlie Kirk — and by extension, TPUSA — are virulent Nazis.

“Over the last several years, the political right has increasingly shifted toward an authoritarian, patriarchal Christian supremacy dedicated to eroding the value of inclusive democracy and public institutions,” the article claimed. “The political right in the U.S., whose party infrastructure is dominated by the Republican Party but includes the current Libertarian Party and is flanked to the right by the Constitution Party, has embraced aggressive state and federal power to enforce a social order rooted in white supremacy. Turning Point USA and its growing influence on conservative politics is emblematic of this current state.”

And see if you notice a theme in how the Anti-Defamation League described Kirk and TPUSA. Here are some choice bullet points from the group:

• “Kirk also promotes Christian nationalism: the idea that Christians should dominate the government and other areas of life in the US.”
• “TPUSA continues to attract racists to the group. Numerous TPUSA representatives have made bigoted remarks about minority groups and the LGBTQ+ community.”
• “White nationalists have attended TPUSA events, even though the group says it rejects white supremacist ideology.” (You can almost feel those last few words being typed through gritted teeth.)

It’s obviously impossible to say whether these articles specifically incited the horrific attack on Kirk, but this sort of rhetoric absolutely influenced that cowardly gunman’s addled mind.

Speaking of mental instability, another one of the themes that “Watchmen” dealt with was whether someone who puts on a garish costume to fight crime at night is a noble vigilante … or a mentally unstable loon.

And that, again, feels apropos, considering the types of people who are clearly consuming this content from this media.

There are a lot of mentally unstable, morally bankrupt, gullible people out there. If this is the sort of rhetoric that the mainstream is pushing, how can anyone not expect a violent end?

And far be it from me to ever proffer advice to vile leftists, but here’s some, because this is what Kirk would’ve wanted: Drop this asinine “white supremacy,” “eVeRyBoDy I dIsAgReE wItH iS a NaZi,” and “[insert bigoted flavor of the month]-ists!” crap. Immediately.

It’s literally getting fathers of young children killed, you soulless, idiotic cretins. And don’t give me this “both sides” garbage either. Conservatives have been beating leftists with ideas and debate in modern times. Leftists have been resorting to killing conservatives in the 2020s. That should tell you everything you need to know.

I’d say you should feel some shame, but based on this “reporting” on Kirk and his group, it’s clear you have none.
