Ukraine has secured agreements to receive warships to protect cargo ships navigating the Black Sea grain corridor, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on 25 November, Ukrainska Pravda reported.
At the Grain from Ukraine summit in Kyiv, Zelenskyy confirmed that concrete deals have been made to ensure the maritime route’s security.
“We have agreed with our partners and will escort the ships into the sea to guarantee their safety. We already have specific agreements for receiving ships. This is a matter of the near future,” Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that one of Ukraine’s major accomplishments this year is securing a grain corridor independent of Russia. He noted that Ukraine is actively working to guarantee safe transit for vessels along the corridor.
The president also announced additional air defense systems for the Odesa Oblast.
“The highly advanced air defense systems will soon protect this region,” Zelenskyy said.
