The US Department of Justice says that the American company Eleview International Inc. and two of its executives have been charged with exporting millions of dollars worth of American technology to Russia in violation of sanctions, according to Militanyi.
The executives, 54-year-old Oleg Nayandin and 39-year-old Vitaliy Borysenko, both residents of Virginia, appeared before a federal court in the Eastern District of Virginia on 4 November. They were accused of conspiracy to violate export control laws.
According to Matt Olsen, the US Assistant Attorney General for National Security, the defendants, whose citizenship is not specified, used three tax evasion schemes to bypass the export restrictions imposed on Russia following the 2022 war.
From March 2022 to June 2023, Eleview International Inc. allegedly directed American goods and technologies to Russia via Kazakhstan, Türkiye, and Finland.
The US Department of Justice notes that the defendants exported telecommunications equipment worth approximately $1.48 million as part of the scheme involving Türkiye.
They are also accused of exporting goods worth around $3.45 million that could be used in the production of drones through the Finnish scheme.
Additionally, the company exported dual-use goods worth approximately $1.47 million to Russia through Kazakhstan.
If convicted, Nayandin and Borysenko face a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
