Ukrainian intelligence units have successfully liberated the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant in the Kharkiv Oblast from Russian occupation. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR) announced the completion of this complex operation today, sharing video footage.

The successful liberation of this strategic facility marks a significant victory for Ukrainian forces in their ongoing efforts to reclaim occupied territories. Russian military forces occupied the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant in May 2024, which became the biggest success during their overall quickly stopped incursion into Ukraine’s Kharkiv Oblast. Ukrainian defense forces subsequently blocked the occupiers in the plant, who were receiving supplies via drones.

The operation to recapture the plant was carried out by special HUR groups, including “Stugna,” “Paragon,” “Yunger,” RDK, BDK, and “Terror.”

Ukrainian forces systematically cleared all 30 buildings of the plant, engaging in close-quarter combat with the enemy in densely built-up areas. In some instances, Ukrainian special forces resorted to hand-to-hand combat with the occupiers.

The Russian forces had turned the aggregate plant into a propaganda “fortress,” deploying their most motivated and professional units for its defense. These included fighters from the 45th Special Purpose Brigade of the Airborne Forces (based in Kubinka, Moscow). The occupiers employed significant artillery, kamikaze drones, guided aerial bombs, and heavy flamethrower systemsSolntsepyok” against the Ukrainian forces.

Despite fierce resistance from the enemy, HUR MOU fighters succeeded in eliminating enemy forces and capturing POWs, the press release states.
