Ukrainian freediver Kateryna Sadurska has claimed her second world championship title within a month, winning gold at competitions sanctioned by the International Association for the Development of Apnea (AIDA).

On the first competition day of the AIDA depth world championship, Sadurska secured the women’s constant weight without fins event with a dive to 75 meters, according to reports from Ukraine’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Underwater Sports Federation.

The victory marks Sadurska’s second world title in September. Earlier this month, she won the same discipline at the World Aquatics Championships under the World Confederation of Underwater Activities (CMAS) with a 76-meter dive.

Kateryna Sadurska now has 8 gold medals from world championships in her collection, according to the Ministry of Sports.

The 76-meter performance in the CMAS championship represented a one-meter improvement over her AIDA result, demonstrating the athlete’s consistent performance at the sport’s highest level across different governing bodies.

Sadurska set the current women’s world record in constant weight without fins in 2024, reaching 82 meters. This record dive established her as the deepest female freediver in the discipline.

The athlete from Mykolaiv competes in both synchronized swimming and freediving. Her competitive record includes two European championship titles and multiple medals in aquatic sports at the continental level.

The constant weight without fins discipline requires athletes to descend and ascend using only their arms and body movement, without the assistance of fins or changing their ballast weight during the dive.
