Ukrainian forces push Russians back 3-8 km from the Dnipro River on the eastern bank — spokesperson

Russian mortar fire can’t reach Dnipro’s western bank anymore, but significant “dozens of thousands” of Russian troops remain in the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine’s Kherson Oblast, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Defense Forces Command “South” said on the TV air.

Ukrainian forces have pushed Russian invaders back on the distance from 3 and up to 8 km from the Dnipro River on the eastern bank in Ukraine’s Kherson region, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Defense Forces Command “South” Nataliya Humeniuk said on the TV air, confirming previously reported gains.

The depth of Ukraine’s advances varies depending on the specifics of the geography and landscape. Importantly, the fire of Russian mortar units can not reach the western Dnipro bank anymore, “and this is a certain achievement that we can already record,” Humeniuk said.

The spokesperson said that Ukrainian defenders continue to dig in on the eastern bank. However, she warned against too high expectations, saying that Russia still has the capability to bring in reserves. It is evidenced by the fact that despite 4-10 Russian artillery systems being destroyed daily in the Kherson direction, Russian artillery fire remains dense, and destroyed equipment is constantly replenished. Tens of thousands of Russian troops remain on the eastern Dnipro bank in the Kherson region.

Ukraine’s forces secured footholds on multiple sections of the eastern bank of Dnipro several weeks ago, according to unofficial reports. On the morning of 18 November 2023, Ukraine’s General Staff officially reported that Ukraine’s marine units continued holding positions on the eastern bank of the Dnipro. Ukrainian forces receive supplies across the river by boats.
