Ukraine’s Air Force spokesperson urges the Ukrainian press and social media accounts to refrain from disseminating “incredible assumptions” made in Newsweek about the alleged F-16 presence in Ukraine.

Yuriy Ihnat, the spokesperson for Ukraine’s Air Force, has reiterated his plea to the Ukrainian press and Telegram channels to refrain from disseminating inaccurate information regarding the presence of F-16s in Ukraine. Ukrinform reported his statement after he shared it on Facebook.

Ihnat wrote this after Newsweek mentioned an anonymous source’s opinion, suggesting that Ukraine could be operating American fighter jets and potentially using them against Russian bombers.

“The American edition of Newsweek published an article with incredible assumptions about the presence of F-16s in Ukraine and even their ALLEGED involvement in the destruction of six Russian aircraft. This is a great chance for hype for our Telegram channels and various media that do not care about their own reputation,” he wrote.

Ihnat stressed that the claim was entirely made up and added that on the previous day, he joined 23 live broadcasts of Ukrainian and foreign media to give details on the Air Force’s missile attack on the Russian Navy’s Novocherkassk landing ship and refute Russia’s claims about the alleged destruction of several F-16’s in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, Ihnat mentioned earlier that the arrival of an F-16 aircraft in the near future is unlikely.
