Ukrainian Air Force reported that it shot down a Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber that was actively attacking the city of Zaporizhzhia with aerial bombs. The strike occurred around 04:00 on 25 September.
Su-34 shot down mid-attack on Zaporizhzhia
According to the Ukrainian Air Force Command, the Su-34 was conducting what they described as terrorist attacks on Zaporizhzhia when it was hit. The aircraft was reportedly using guided bombs during its assault.
Russia bombed Zaporizhzhia for four straight days
Russia escalated its bomb assaults on Zaporizhzhia city in recent days.
On 24 September, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with two guided bombs. The strike caused a fire and damaged greenhouses, the botanical garden, and multiple detached houses.
On 23 September, six guided bombs hit the city, setting fires across private homes and industrial infrastructure. A man was killed in the attack, his body later recovered from rubble.
A day earlier, on 22 September, Russian aircraft dropped ten bombs on Zaporizhzhia, targeting both civilian and industrial areas. The explosions ignited large fires, destroyed cars, damaged apartment blocks and detached houses. Three people died, and four others were injured.
