Ukraine tests advanced auto-targeting system for FPV drones

A Ukrainian company has developed and is currently testing a new auto-targeting system for FPV (First Person View) drones, aimed at enhancing autonomous attacks on fast-moving and maneuvering targets. The system is designed to be particularly effective in the final stages of flight, when operators might lose control due to electronic warfare interference, Militarnyi reports.

Drone warfare innovations have become a defining feature of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. Unmanned vehicles of various sizes, operating in the air, on land, and at sea, play a central role, with technology advancing rapidly. In March, Ukraine began deploying FPV drones equipped with post-target-lock autonomous homing to ensure precise engagement despite Russian electronic warfare, with Russia simultaneously developing similar drone technology at the time.

Serhii Flash, a radio technology specialist, revealed details about the new system, saying:

“Of course, we’re not talking about 100% hits in such difficult conditions, but the percentage is very high.”

The auto-targeting system was developed by The Fourth Law company. Flash praised the system’s effectiveness and affordability:

“This is probably the best solution I’ve seen for such reasonable money. The target acquisition is clear from a distance that Russian electronic warfare won’t cover.”

Ukraine is already utilizing fixed-wing attack drones with target auto-capture capabilities. These drones can fly to the target at a relatively high altitude, mark it, and then strike the target independently of an operator.
