Ukraine downs 71 of 75 Shaheds in largest-yet Russian drone attack

In the early hours of 25 November, on Holodomor Memorial Day, the Russian military launched an attack using 75 Shahed-131/136 drones targeting Ukrainian cities, which lasted approximately six hours.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, “this was the largest drone attack since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.”

Ukrainian air defense shot down 71 Shahed drones, the Ukrainian Air Force said in its morning report.

According to the Air Force, the Russian army launched drones from two different directions, specifically from Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai and the Russian city of Kursk. The main direction of the attack was the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.

Additionally, the air defense operated in at least six oblasts of Ukraine, namely Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kirovohrad.

Russian forces also launched a guided Kh-59 missile at the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, which was which was successfully destroyed.

Debris from downed drones fell in four districts of Kyiv, causing a fire in a kindergarten, blowing out windows, and damaging roofs in several residential buildings, City Administration reported.

The City Administration reported that five civilians, including an 11-year-old child, were injured in the Russian attack on the capital. They received immediate medical attention on site and in the emergency room, with no further hospitalization required.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, a large-scale drone attack knocked out an overhead power line in Kyiv, leaving 77 residential buildings and 120 institutions in the central part of the city without electricity.
