A small-caliber shell pierced the roof of the consular section of the Polish Embassy in Kyiv during the latest Russian night attack, which has killed four civilians, including a 12-year-old girl. It fell into the kitchen area, damaging the ceiling and the building’s cladding, Polsat News reports.
On the night of 28 September 2025, Russia carried out a massive missile-and-drone strike on Kyiv and the region. More than 40 missiles were launched, including hypersonic Kinzhals, and about 500 Shahed attack drones. The strike injured more than 80 civilians, among them rescuers.
The strike shows Russia retains a significant military capability and continues to use it to terrorize civilians. The only way to stop this is economic pressure, as over 77% of Russia’s budget comes from selling energy resources to China, India, and Global South countries.
Polish diplomacy: “Another blow to our mission in Ukraine”
Polish Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Paweł Wroński has confirmed the damage to the consulate.
“A bullet pierced the roof and fell into the kitchen. Fortunately, no one was hurt,” he told Interia.
He added that the embassy continues to operate normally under the leadership of Chargé d’Affaires Piotr Łukaszewicz.
“This was a massive Russian airstrike on Kyiv and Ukraine. This is another blow to our diplomatic mission in Ukraine,” Wroński emphasized.
Despite the risks, the Polish representation in Kyiv will continue its work.
Strike on Polish business in Ukraine: Barlinek factory in Vinnytsia
This is not the first time Russia has struck Polish targets in Ukraine. Earlier, during an attack on Vinnytsia, drones damaged the Barlinek Group factory, a global manufacturer of multilayer wooden flooring.
“Russian drones struck the Barlinek Group factory in Vinnytsia. The plant manager just told me it was intentional, from three directions,” Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated.
He confirmed there were casualties, with two people suffering severe burns.
“Putin’s criminal war is approaching our borders,” Sikorski stressed.
Western response: calls for decisive action
Despite the scale of the strike, the US has not yet condemned the attack or announced new sanctions against Russia. No additional military aid packages were unveiled either.
Meanwhile, European leaders say that Russia showed its real objective in Ukraine.
“More than a month since Alaska, it’s clear: Putin wants terror, not peace. Our security is being decided in Ukraine,” Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský declared.
