A Russian aerial assault on Kharkiv has resulted in 34 injuries and 3 fatalities, according to local officials.

According to Governor Oleh Syniehubov, the attack, which reportedly involved eight FAB-500 aerial bombs, targeted residential areas of Ukraine’s second-largest city.

Syniehubov said that the youngest victim was a 17-year-old girl, while the oldest was 87 years old.

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that Russian forces struck a multi-story building in the Kyivskyi district with a FAB-500 bomb equipped with a UMPK module.

“The enemy launched 8 guided aerial bombs from three Su-34 aircraft from the Stroitel settlement in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast,” Oleksandr Filchakov, head of the regional prosecutor’s office, said.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the attack, expressing condolences to the victims’ families and thanking allied nations for their support.

“At the UN General Assembly, there is much talk about collective efforts for security and the future. But we simply need to stop the terror,” he said.

The assault also targeted a civilian bakery in Kharkiv, resulting in one death and eight injuries, according to Syniehubov. The Office of the Prosecutor General later confirmed that a woman had died in the bakery attack.

As of 7:51 pm, the prosecutor’s office provided a detailed breakdown of the strikes, including impacts in the Kyivskyi, Nemyshlianskyi, Saltivskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts of Kharkiv. The attacks damaged residential buildings, a children’s playground, and other civilian infrastructure.
