On the morning of 4 January, Russian forces shelled Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, local governor Serhiy Lysak said.
Nikopol is located near Russian-occupied Enerhodar and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
The morning attack injured two men, both of whom have leg injuries. One of them is in critical condition, Lysak said. The consequences of the attack are being clarified.
Over the last day, on 3 January, the Russian military attacked Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast eight times with drones and artillery. The strikes damaged several private houses and outbuildings, seven solar panels, greenhouses and cars. Reportedly, there were no casualties. About 1,500 families were left without electricity due to the night shelling.
The Dnipropetrovsk Oblast has been under regular Russian attacks. Since early 2023, 119 people have been killed in the oblast, Suspilne reported. As of 27 December 2023, Russian military forces shelled settlements in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast almost 1,900 times.
