Ukraine’s Interior Ministry reported that a Russian missile attack damaged a four-storey apartment building in Lviv, destroying the 3rd and 4th floors in two entrances.

“A search and rescue operation is underway. As of 7:00 a.m., four people were killed and nine injured. Rescuers rescued seven people and evacuated 64,” the Ministry reported at 7:70, adding that “There is information that people may still be under the rubble.”

Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi said that the strike was the largest attack on Lviv’s civilian infrastructure since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. More than 50 apartments were destroyed, according to him.

The city of Lviv is situated near Ukraine’s western border 700-1000 kilometers away from the warzone.

Overnight into 6 July, Russia attacked Ukraine again with Kalibr missiles from the Black Sea, according to Ukraine’s Air Force. As a result of the nighttime missile attack on Lviv, critical infrastructure objects were damaged and people were injured, Ukrinform reported.

Ukraine’s public broadcaster Suspilne reported explosions in Lviv oblast and city around 2:30-2:50 as the Air Force said air defenses were active.

Update:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered his condolences to the loved ones of the Russian attack’s victims and promised a retaliation:

Update:

Ukraine’s Air Force says the air defenses and aircraft managed to destroy “only seven of 10 Kalibr missiles”:

“Around 1 a.m., the enemy struck from the Black Sea. Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from surface carriers and submarines. Several groups of missiles were spotted heading northward at first, using the terrain and the Dnipro riverbed, and then abruptly changing course to the west,” the Air Force reported.
