A Ukrainian drone targeted Belgorod’s administration building in Russia on 12 March, injuring two people, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.
Belgorod is a Russian city bordering the Ukrainian cities of Sumy, Kharkiv, and Luhansk. The attack on the administrative building in Belgorod followed other attacks on the city’s oblast.
According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, a woman received shrapnel wounds, and another woman sustained a concussion. The administration building’s windows were allegedly broken.
Russian social media also reported that a drone attacked a shopping center in Belgorod. One of the videos shows a drone flying and crashing into the building.
Gladkov later confirmed this information, saying, “In Belgorod, a drone crashed on the roof of a shopping center near the railway station.” There were reportedly no casualties. The drone attack damaged cars.
The Ukrainian military did not confirm that it was responsible for the attacks. However, the Ukrainian military intelligence spokesperson, Andrii Yusov, told Radio Liberty, “This work will continue. Such incidents happen to everything that is used for military purposes.”
Russia reported earlier on 12 March a massive drone attack on seven of its oblasts: Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh, Orel, Moscow, Tula, and Nizhny Novgorod oblasts.
