Russian army strikes at Kharkiv, injuring 7 people, including 4 rescuers

On 17 September, Russian forces launched two attacks using guided aerial bombs on the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv, with one strike hitting a forest belt near a shopping center, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov.

The attacks resulted in seven injuries, including four rescue workers who were extinguishing a nearby fire. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov initially said, “The Russian guided bomb has injured six people at this moment.”

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office later clarified that seven people were injured, including “four State Emergency Service employees and three civilians.” Two civilian men, aged 19 and 25, are in light to moderate condition.

Terekhov said that Russian forces used two guided aerial bombs to target the Kyivskyi district, with one striking an open area. Syniehubov later specified that “one hit was recorded in the forest belt near the shopping center.”

The Prosecutor’s Office reported that preliminary investigations suggest the Russian army launched the attacks from Stroitel in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast, using three FAB-250 bombs with UMPK.

Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, is under ongoing threat and has been a frequent target of Russian attacks since the start of the full-scale invasion.

Over the past day, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv, targeting 13 settlements and injuring three people.
