On 21 December, Russian air strikes struck coal mines in Toretsk, Donetsk Oblast, resulting in three civilian deaths and six injuries, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported via Telegram.

The first of the two bombs struck one of the Toretsk mines, leaving the enterprise without power. During the emergency rescue operations conducted by Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES), rescuers extricated one man from a damaged building and transported him to the nearest medical facility in an armored vehicle. Additionally, the body of one worker was retrieved from the rubble by the rescue team.

At the time of the attack, 32 miners were underground in one of the affected mines. They have all been brought to the surface, Ukraine’s SES reported.

At another mine in the area, two more airstrikes resulted in significant damage to administrative buildings and equipment.
