According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia is demanding that several hundred Ukrainian workers at the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant obtain Russian passports and sign employment contracts with the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom. They have set a deadline of 31 December 2023.

The intelligence also reported that as punishment for not having a passport, Ukrainians are being selectively denied access to their workplaces by having their entry passes revoked.

“Among the Ukrainian workers refusing to sign contracts with Rosatom and Russian passports, the Russian special services are trying to sow distrust towards each other, creating conditions for anonymous denunciations, in particular through Telegram bots created specifically for this purpose,” the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted.

Also, according to intelligence data, Russian energy workers sent to work at the Zaporizhzhia NPP are dissatisfied with the terms of their assignments. Instead of the promised two months, they work for six months or longer, as it is difficult for Russia to find replacements.
