Russia launches over 1,100 guided bombs in a week — Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Russian forces launched a massive assault on Ukraine this week, deploying over 1,100 guided aerial bombs, more than 560 attack drones, and approximately 20 missiles of various types.

The high intensity of air strikes on the frontline allows Russia to destroy Ukrainian positions and continue its offensive campaign, as Ukraine lacks long-range missiles to destroy Russian aviation and airfields.

In a Facebook post detailing the scale of attacks, Zelensky emphasized Russia’s relentless aggression: “Russia is not stopping its terror against Ukraine. Daily aggression against our people, our cities and villages. Strikes with different types of weapons.”

The week-long bombardment demonstrates the continuous high intensity of Russia’s air campaign, with guided aerial bombs becoming an increasingly prevalent threat alongside drone and missile attacks.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is working intensively with its international partners to counter these threats. “We are working intensively with our partners to stop the enemy, strengthen Ukraine, and provide maximum protection to our people,” the President stated.

This intense wave of attacks underscores Ukraine’s urgent need for enhanced air defense qualifications and continued international support in the face of Russia’s sustained aerial campaign. The incoming F-16 fighters could effectively counter Russian aircraft launching guided bombs. They would need missiles capable of striking targets at distances up to 185 kilometers to provide significant defensive capabilities against Russian aircraft.
