Russian forces launched a massive overnight attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure across multiple oblasts, according to regional officials.
The assault involved 416 aerial weapons: 381 strike UAVs, 7 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 21 Iskander-K cruise missiles, and 7 Kh-59/69 guided aviation missiles, reports Hromadske. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed or suppressed 320 aerial targets. However, 18 missiles and 78 strike UAVs hit 15 locations, with debris falling at 6 additional sites. Gas transportation infrastructure facilities were among the targets struck.
Poltava and Sumy oblasts left without power
In Poltava Oblast, energy infrastructure facilities were damaged in the attack. Debris damaged a private house in one of the region's communities. Russian forces launched at least four cruise missiles toward Poltava and Lubny, and also deployed Shahed kamikaze drones. Residents heard a series of explosions.
"The strikes damaged civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, prompting some Poltava schools to switch to distance learning," said Kateryna Yamshchykova, secretary of Poltava City Council.
In Sumy Oblast, an aviation strike on Shostka community damaged an infrastructure facility in Voronizka starost district. Shostkinsky and partially Konotop districts were left without power.
"There is no electricity in Shostka and in all settlements of the city community. Emergency restoration crews are working," said Mykola Noha, Shostka community head.
The strikes forced the use of alternative power sources at hospitals and water supply systems. On 1 October, Russian strikes on critical infrastructure had already partially left Konotop and Shostka districts without power.
On the morning of 3 October, Russian forces struck with a missile at a yard in Andriyashivska community. Two women experienced acute stress reactions, said Valentyna Nazarenko, head of Romny district military administration. An 8-year-old girl was also injured; medics provided assistance on site, and hospitalization was not required, said Oleh Hryhorov, head of the regional military administration.

Authorities received 15 reports of damage to housing, vehicles and infrastructure facilities.
In Kherson Oblast, Russian shelling left five settlements in Berislav district without electricity. Russian forces shelled the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson in the morning. A 20-year-old man sustained blast injuries, concussion, and head trauma, the regional military administration reported. Over the previous day, Russian attacks damaged 2 multi-story buildings and 11 private houses. Five people were injured, according to Kherson Oblast Governor Oleksandr Produkin. Donetsk Oblast under fire
In Donetsk oblast, Russian forces attacked Kostiantynivka twice on 2 October. The first strike involved a FAB-250 guided aerial bomb that damaged private and multi-story buildings. Later, Russian forces struck a civilian vehicle with a drone.
"As a result of the city being shelled by a strike FPV drone, two civilians were injured. They were wounded while traveling by car. The vehicle was damaged," said Serhiy Horbunov, head of the city military administration.
