The German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall plans to start repairing Leopard tanks and other military equipment in Ukraine in the coming weeks.

“We want to start working after the summer vacation,” Papperger noted.
The facility is to become part of a network of repair centers for German military equipment that needs to be repaired in Ukraine after breakdowns or shelling.
Repairs in Ukraine could bring significant logistical benefits, as broken tanks would not have to be inconveniently transported across the border and back into the country. However, there are still security concerns about possible attacks by the Russian military.
In June, Rheinmetall established a joint enterprise with Ukraine’s Ukroboronprom, which will initially repair and maintain military equipment.
