In his nightly address, President Zelenskyy reported thousands of Russian losses near Dobropillia and warned that only stronger international pressure and military aid can curb Moscow’s “virus of war.”

Putin lies when he says Russia is making gains: Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of deceiving world leaders about Russia’s progress in the war, saying Moscow’s forces are suffering heavy losses on the front.

In his evening address on Friday, Zelenskyy said Russian troops had lost more than 3,000 soldiers in the Dobropillia area alone during Ukraine’s counteroffensive operations.

He described Russia as “sick with war,” adding that only strong decisions and support from allies could stop what he called the “virus” of aggression.

Zelenskyy said he discussed the situation with US President Donald Trump during meetings in New York, emphasizing that Washington and Kyiv are working on concrete steps to end the conflict.

He also urged international partners not to ease pressure on Moscow, pointing to expectations for a 19th package of EU sanctions and further measures from the United States.

The president warned that Russia continues to target Ukrainian cities including Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and Kherson with strikes on civilian infrastructure.

At the same time, he said Ukrainian forces had carried out deep strikes of their own and were increasing production of drones and missiles.

Zelenskyy noted reports of unusual reconnaissance drone activity along Ukraine’s border with Hungary and ordered the military to respond “appropriately for the defense of our state” if such drones appear again.

He also raised concerns about Russian drones launched from tankers, citing recent incidents in Denmark, Norway, and the Baltic states.

“Russia is trying to reshape Europe to suit itself,” Zelenskyy said, calling for joint action with allies. “Life must prevail.”
