Pentagon announces $ 375 million military aid package for Ukraine

The US Department of Defense has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine valued at $375 million, as reported by Voice of America on 26 September. This latest assistance, provided under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) program, marks the 66th tranche of equipment from the Biden administration’s Defense Department reserves since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Congress has approved nearly $175 billion in aid and military assistance for Ukraine and allied nations. Much of this funding has been allocated for long-term US defense production to replace equipment sent to Kyiv.

The package includes a diverse array of weapons and equipment designed to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Notably, the aid package comprises air-to-ground missiles, ammunition for HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems), and both 155mm and 105mm artillery shells.

In addition to these critical munitions, the package also includes TOW anti-tank optically-tracked missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, and various armored vehicles. The Pentagon has also specified that M1117 armored vehicles, mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles, and light tactical vehicles will be provided.

Also, the aid package includes armored bridge systems, small arms, patrol boats, and demolition equipment and munitions. The Pentagon has also stated that spare parts, ancillary equipment, training, and transportation will be included in this support package.
