The missile strikes launched by Russian forces on civilian objects in Ukraine once again prove that Russia seeks war, not peace, said German Ambassador Martin Jaeger on X.

“The massive Russian attack at night and in the morning targeted civilian objects. It once again proved that Russia seeks war, not peace. Due to our contribution to air defense, we helped to prevent the worst.

We stand strong because we stand together,” wrote the diplomat.

On 14 December, Germany announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. The assistance included a Patriot air defense system, capable of intercepting ballistic and cruise missiles, and additional rounds of 155mm ammunition.

A week later, Berlin sent three Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems with spare parts and ammunition.

Recently, after a substantial pause in mass missile attacks, Russian forces resumed their assaults on Ukrainian cities, primarily targeting civilian areas with various types of missiles.

On 2 January, Russia carried out a massive strike on Kyiv and Kharkiv, killing at least five civilians and injuring 130.
