Interior Minister: 10 lives lost, 23 injured in Ukraine following severe snowfall

Rescue services assisted almost 2,500 people, including over 160 children, in Odesa Oblast, one of the worst-hit areas.

As of 28 November 2023, 10 people died, and 23 were injured, including two children due to severe weather sweeping through Ukraine, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko said.

In Odesa Oblast, one of the worst-hit areas, five people died and 15 were injured due to the inclement weather. Rescue services assisted 2,498 people, including 162 children, in the oblast.

In Mykolaiv Oblast, two people died and two were injured, according to Klymenko. The minister also reported on the remaining victims in Kharkiv and Kyiv oblasts.

Due to heavy snowfall and strong winds over recent days in Ukraine, 411 settlements in 11 oblasts remain without electricity. In addition, eight roads in Mykolaiv and Kirovohrad oblasts remain closed to traffic.

On 27 November, traffic was blocked on 14 highways across Ukraine, with the most difficult situation occurring in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy and Kirovohrad oblasts.

On 27 November, over 2,000 settlements in 16 Ukrainian oblasts were left without power and road traffic was blocked due to inclement weather conditions, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Some schools in Kyiv Oblast were closed and trucks were prohibited from entering the city.
