On 5 March, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called on Europe to unite in providing steadfast support to Ukraine as the country continues its struggle against Russian occupiers, as per UkrInform.

The statement was made by the Greek prime minister at his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Odesa, during which Russia launched a missile on the city’s port, 150 away from both officials.

“I believe that this war concerns everyone. Two years ago, it was still unclear, and Europe did not know to what extent the war could go. We cannot remain silent; we must unite and make efforts to provide continuous assistance to Ukraine,” said Mitsotakis.

In turn, Zelenskyy noted that two years of the war were sufficient time to understand that Russia would continue its military aggression beyond Ukraine if the country did not win.

In Odesa, the Ukrainian president and the Greek prime minister visited the Transfiguration Cathedral, the city’s oldest and largest Orthodox church, which had been ruined in a Russian missile attack on Odesa in 2023.

“It is a matter of Russia’s threat to all of Europe. We must be stronger than in the first year.

Those people who are very tired of the war and are skeptical about our victory need to come to Odesa to the ruined cathedral and pray that there is no war in their countries,” added the president.

Mitsotakis’ visit to Odesa was not officially announced. The leaders held a press conference, which was not aired live for security reasons.
