As part of its military assistance to Ukraine, Germany transferred additional Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, long-range reconnaissance drones, and ammunition to Ukraine, following the delivery of a Patriot air defense missile system last week.

On 22 December, the German government updated the list of military aid to Ukraine, announcing the transfer of three Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems with spare parts and ammunition.

In addition to the Gepard self-propelled guns, Germany provided Ukraine with artillery shells and long-range reconnaissance drones for automated aerial intelligence.

The latest military aid package includes the following:

  • three Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns;
  • 30,240 rounds of ammunition for Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns;
  • ammunition for Leopard 2A6 main battle tanks;
  • ten VECTOR long-range reconnaissance drones with spare parts;
  • two 8×8 HX81 tractors;
  • five HX81 semi-trailers;
  • two tractor trains 8×8 HX81;
  • eight Zetros trucks;
  • 2,500 155-mm artillery shells;
  • 25,536 40-mm rounds for automatic grenade launchers, etc.

The list also mentions the provision of two WISENT 1 demining tanks,  two border patrol vehicles, and two AMPS communication protection systems for helicopters. In addition, Germany provided Ukraine with an unspecified amount of medical supplies.

Last week, the list of military aid transferred by Germany to Ukraine included a Patriot air defense missile system and missiles for it.

Funding for the military assistance to Ukraine amounts to 5.4 billion Euros for 2023 (after 2 billion Euros for 2022). Part of these funds will be used to refill the German Armed Forces stocks for items delivered to Ukraine and for Germany’s contributions to the European Peace Facility, the German government reported.
