German defense company FFG (Flensburger Fahrzeugbau GmbH) is constructing a repair center in western Ukraine, as announced by Markus Faber, a member of Germany’s Defense Committee and Bundestag deputy. This facility aims to repair various German weapons and military equipment currently used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Faber, while not disclosing the complete list of equipment to be serviced, highlighted the Leopard 1A5 tanks, already operated by the Ukrainian military, as an example.
Faber underscored the strategic importance of this development, stating, “For Ukraine, this is a huge increase in efficiency, as there will no longer be a need for expensive and time-consuming transportation abroad, and the Armed Forces can train their mechanics on site.”
“The on-site visit also demonstrates that German tax money is being used sensibly and that the value of our military aid is being preserved,” he added.
Details about the construction of the center remain undisclosed for security reasons. However, the significance of this repair center is immense, considering the logistical challenges and high costs associated with transporting damaged military equipment abroad for repairs, especially when swift redeployment is crucial.
