Finland’s Ministry of the Interior has prepared nine vehicles for emergency services to be donated to Ukraine, Finland’s Ministry of the Interior announced on 23 October.
Rescue services of several of Finland’s regions donated a total of nine rescue vehicles to Ukraine. The Ministry emphasized the importance of international cooperation in assisting Ukraine and thanked the rescue services for their donations.
According to the Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen, assistance to rescue services represents about 20% of all aid Finland has provided Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Previously, Helsinki had sent four ambulances, one fire engine, energy sector supplies, vehicles, IT supplies, and equipment to Ukraine.
Finland is currently “putting together aid packages for Ukraine’s energy, water, rescue services, and healthcare sectors,” the Ministry said in its statement.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022, Finland has delivered 280 shipments of material assistance and 65 vehicles to Ukraine overall, the Interior Ministry said in a press release. Finland has also provided expert assistance to support the EU Civil Protection Mechanism in Ukraine’s neighboring countries and taken in evacuated patients from Ukraine needing medical care.
