The death toll resulting from Russia’s missile attack on Kyiv on 29 December has now risen to 29, according to the city’s military administration’s report on Telegram published on 1 January.
“For three days in a row, rescuers have been conducting a search and rescue operation after an air strike on Kyiv. Unfortunately, they are still finding bodies of people killed by Russian missiles. As of 10:30 p.m. today, 29 people have been found dead,” the Administration wrote, calling it the worst tragedy for the capital since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
On 29 December, Russia launched a large-scale aerial missile and drone assault on various Ukrainian cities. The Russian forces deployed approximately 160 missiles and drones in this attack. Ukrainian air defense units successfully intercepted and neutralized 27 drones along with 88 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles.
