The non-governmental organization Group D, uniting Czech soldiers, reservists, and representatives from the non-profit sector, aims to purchase 10,000 FPV drones for Ukraine, as reported by the Czech publication iROZHLAS.

Why does it matter? High-level support of the initiative underscores Czech commitment to aiding Ukraine. This official backing enhances credibility and encourages broader international collaboration.

Group D plans to announce a fundraising campaign targeting approximately one hundred million Czech crowns (around $44.4 million) in the coming days.

Led by the Chief of the General Staff of the Military of the Czech Republic, Karel Řehka, the initiative has garnered support from organizations already supplying helmets, body armor, and thermal imagers to Ukraine.

“Our goal is to collaborate closely with Ukrainians to understand their needs and preferences, iteratively improving the drones to serve them in combat best,” Řehka said. “Our organization can also test selected drone models to evaluate their resilience against Russian jamming technologies.”

The Czech General Staff Chief highlighted the mutual benefits of the idea, providing valuable insights from the Ukrainian battlefield to both Ukraine and the Czech army.

“Our Ukrainian partners are eager to share their hard-won experience with us, organizing expert seminars and providing invaluable insights. This degree of collaboration is rare and profoundly impactful,” Řehka noted

In addition to his support, the project has received the high-level endorsement of General Radek Hasala, Chief of the Military Office of the President of the Czech Republic.
