France has information indicating that China is helping Russia in its war against Ukraine, Emmanuel Bonne, a diplomatic advisor to the President of France, told CNN during the Aspen Security Forum.
When asked if it was weapons that China was sending to Russia, Emmanuel Bonne said that there are facts of a “large-scale supply of military capabilities.”
“There are indications that they [China – ed.] are doing things we wish they wouldn’t do,” Bonne told a CNN reporter. “What we need most is for China to refrain. We need them to understand that the war in Ukraine is a conflict of global magnitude, and we cannot allow Ukraine to lose, both on principle and for other reasons. For us, there is much more at stake in Ukraine than its sovereignty. It is very much about the stability of the world,” Bonne added.
Later, French officials clarified that Bonne referred to dual-use technologies and non-lethal military aid such as helmets and armor.
