Canadian company Roshel sent Ukraine the 1000th Senator armored vehicle, Defence Blog, a news source about the military, reported.

Canadian company Roshel has been ramping up the Senator armored vehicle production to meet demand from Ukraine and its allies since Russia’s invasion began in February 2022. Since then, it’s also formed a part of military assistance packages extended to Ukraine amidst the Russian invasion.

According to the Defence Blog, the Canadian government has bought eight Senators for Ukraine. NATO and other Western allies have bought dozens more since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In all, there are at least a hundred Senators currently being used by Ukrainian military and law enforcement agencies engaged in defending the country.

Production of the Senator, built on a Ford truck base, has increased tenfold over 2023. “Roshel can complete production of two Senator vehicles per day,”  according to the report. The armored, high-tech vehicles provide protection and mobility to Ukrainian forces, using them for troop transport, medical evacuations, aid delivery, and prisoner exchanges.

“Armored vehicles are a critical part of Canada’s strategy to support Ukraine, on top of military training and delivery of aid,” the Roshel wrote, citing Canada’s defense Minister Anita Anand 2021-2023.
