EU High Representative Josep Borrell responded to Russia’s air attack on Kyiv on 25 November, the largest drone attack on the Ukrainian capital since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“The EU firmly stands in solidarity with Ukraine as Russia unleashed its most extensive drone attack on Kyiv since its illegal invasion of the country, causing widespread devastation, instilling fear among the population, and disrupting lives,” Borrell wrote on X/Twitter.
On 25 November, in the early hours, the Russian military conducted a drone attack using 75 Shahed-131/136 drones on Ukrainian cities focusing on Kyiv. The air assault lasted about six hours. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted and downed 74 of these drones, as reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Ukrinform noted that a meeting of the EU Council on Foreign Relations at the level of defense ministers was held in Brussels on the same day. One of the key issues European ministers focused on was the continued and heightened provision of military aid to support Ukraine in its struggle against the Russian invasion.
On the same day, the European Commission’s President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the Commission would allocate 50 million euros ($54,7 million) to restore Ukrainian ports affected by Russian attacks.
