Last night, a drone crashed in Romania in the border area with Ukraine, according to the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, Hotnews.ro reports.

The Ministry said the drone crashed in an uninhabited area near Grindu in Romania’s Tulcea county near the border with Ukraine’s Odesa Oblast, which came under massive attack by Russia’s Iranian-made Shahed explosive drones overnight into 14 December.

Russia’s night attacks across Ukraine killed 1, injured 12, including 3 children

Joint [Defense Ministry/Internal Ministry] teams moved to the area during the night and reported this morning that a 1.5 m deep crater was identified as a result of the uncontrolled crash of a drone used in the attack on the Ukrainian port infrastructure, in an uninhabited perimeter about 4 km upstream from Grindu,” the Romania Defense Ministry says.

During the Russian air attack on Ukraine’s Danube river port infrastructure, the Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations issued an air alert message at 22:45 and lifted the alert around 02:00.

The Ministry of National Defence (MoND) strongly condemns the attacks conducted by the Russian Federation against certain civilian infrastructure facilities and elements in the Ukrainian ports at the Danube. These attacks are unjustified and seriously infringe the rules of international humanitarian law,” the Romanian Defense Ministry wrote.

Since the beginning of September, four other drones have crashed on Romanian territory on the border with Ukraine.
