Every Sunday morning, legacy media outlets are taken over by elected officials, aspiring elected officials, administration insiders, and the usual collection of talking heads — all of whom are there to discuss specific policies, push talking points, or simply promote their own campaigns.
For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to unravel a full week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
ABC News, “This Week”:
During an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Senator Lindsey Graham panned the Colorado Supreme Court’s recent ruling barring former President Donald Trump from appearing on the 2024 GOP primary ballot. Graham said that the ruling — which cited the 14th Amendment and argued that Trump’s participation in “an insurrection” on January 6th, 2021, barred him from a second term — had “no constitutional basis.”
“It is a political decision,” Graham said, and argued that when all was said and done it was likely to be thrown out. “Donald Trump will eventually be on the ballot in Colorado.”

Graham went on to discuss Trump’s prospects with regard to the 2024 presidential election, saying that he believed the former president could win if his focus was on the future rather than the past.
“I accept the election results of 2020. I’m worried about 2024,” he said. “If President Trump puts the vision out — improving security and prosperity for Americans — he will win. If he looks back, I think he will lose.”

CBS News, “Face the Nation”:
CBS reporter Catherine Herridge made an early New Year’s prediction during Sunday’s broadcast of “Face the Nation” — namely that Hunter Biden had likely only seen the beginning of his legal woes.
“2024 is going to be a year of incredible legal exposure,” Herridge said, regarding President Joe Biden’s embattled son. Referencing the special counsel’s decision to move forward with the California tax indictment — “a shot across the bow” — she said it would not be a stretch to assume the special counsel, “at the very least, is investigating potential violations of foreign lobbying laws.”

CNN, “State of the Union”:
CNN’s “State of the Union” hosted a climate change special, and anchor Jake Tapper spoke with former Vice President turned climate activist Al Gore.
Gore complained that progress on climate mitigation efforts was being stymied by “the fossil fuel industry and the big petro states” — and called for the United States to act and push through “the blockade.”

Billionaire investor Ray Dalio argued that it might be easier to drive funding for green energy and other climate mitigation efforts if some of the focus was shifted toward adapting to the changes that are inevitable.

FOX, “Fox News Sunday”:
Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) responded to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East — including a number of attacks executed by Iranian-backed forces in the Red Sea — and he told “Fox News Sunday” anchor Shannon Bream that the Biden administration was sending “mixed messages” to everyone involved.
“From a diplomatic standpoint, we’ve been sending mixed messages to Israel. You know, we talk about cease-fires. We talk about sending humanitarian aid into Gaza,” he said. “These mixed messages and the fact that we’ve allowed Iran to enrich itself and repopulate Hamas and Hezbollah and the Houthis with the weapons that they need, have created this situation.”
“They’re not taking a consistent response. So of course, it’s not appropriate. That’s why Iran feels emboldened.” Hagerty continued. “But we’ve been highly inconsistent in terms of the way we deal with Iran from an economic standpoint, and from a diplomatic standpoint … the Biden administration wants to appease the Iranian regime.”

MSNBC, “Inside With Jen Psaki”:
Jim Messina, who served as both 2012 campaign manager and White House Chief of Staff to former President Barack Obama, joined former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on her MSNBC show to discuss what was coming in the 2024 presidential election.
Messina began by explaining that while he saw former President Donald Trump as a threat, the thing that truly “keeps him up at night” is the number of people who seem willing to consider a third party vote — a move that he appeared to believe would likely benefit Trump at Biden’s expense.
“There are things that really concern me, and the biggest one is the possibility of a third party,” he explained. “People flirting with third party ballots don’t understand they are playing exactly into Donald Trump’s hands here.”

Messina went on to say that the absolute best case scenario for Biden would be if the American people saw the 2024 election in much the same way as they saw the 2020 election — as a binary choice between Biden and Trump.
“My beginning of the year wish is just a straight contrast between Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” he said. “The more the Biden campaign can drive that, the better their poll numbers will be.”
