Every Sunday morning, legacy media outlets are taken over by elected officials, aspiring elected officials, administration insiders, and the usual collection of talking heads — all of whom are there to discuss specific policies, push talking points, or simply promote their own campaigns.

For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to unravel a full week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.

ABC News, “This Week”:

A panel discussion on ABC’s “This Week” focused on President Joe Biden’s reelection bid – and the fact that Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) has now mounted a primary challenge to him.

Politico’s Alexander Burns pointed to Biden’s dismal poll numbers, saying, “You would not see a promising up and coming third-term member of Congress filing in this kind of steeply, steeply uphill campaign if the president was a highly, highly popular man,” he said.

Former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile weighed in as well — but she argued that regardless of Phillips’ motives, the party would not abandon Biden.

“Democrats are going to coalesce, stand behind and support Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” she said, claiming that Biden had “achieved a lot in office” and the American people already know him and believe him to be “capable” and “wise.”

CBS News, “Face the Nation”:

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan made an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” where he spoke with anchor Margaret Brennan about the threat posed by Iran — especially if pressure on its proxies in Gaza and Lebanon do not succeed in deterring further attacks.

Sullivan said that the United States had certainly seen “elevated threats” against American troops “throughout the region, and an elevated risk of this conflict spreading to other parts of the region.”

CNN, “State of the Union”:

Sullivan also joined CNN anchor Jake Tapper on Sunday’s broadcast of “State of the Union,” and he called on Israel to do everything possible to ensure as few civilian casualties as possible as the war with Hamas continues to escalate.

“The Israeli government should be taking every possible means available to them to distinguish between Hamas terrorists, who are legitimate military targets, and civilians, who are not,” he said.

Sullivan also told Tapper that many of the hostages are believed to still be alive – and that the administration believed that “there can still be a pathway to get their release, and we are going to work tirelessly to make that happen.”

NBC News, “Meet the Press”:

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) joined NBC’s “Meet the Press,” where she told anchor Kristen Welker that she was afraid President Joe Biden was not doing enough to include outreach to Muslim and Arab Americans in his response to the war between Israel and terror group Hamas.

Touting Biden’s “courage” when it came to domestic policies and challenging injustices in the United States, Jayapal said that he needed to be “just as courageous” when it came to calling out allies. The Washington Congresswoman was among the few who did not support the resolution condemning Hamas, and she said that while she condemned the terror group’s attacks on Israel, she could not support the resolution because it did not also do enough to condemn Israel’s response.

FOX, “Fox News Sunday”:

Dallas, Texas, Mayor Eric Johnson made headlines when he announced his decision to change political parties — from Democrat to Republican — and he joined “Fox News Sunday” anchor Shannon Bream to explain how the dramatic rise in violent crime had factored into his decision.

“What I’ve seen across the country, too often I think that Democrats primarily is what I’m talking about because that’s who controls most of the major cities in this country – 75 of the top 100 cities in the country are run by Democrats – the problem has become that Democrats were not willing, I think, to say that violent crime is a problem in their city and that it’s a problem that they could actually do something about,” Johnson told Bream.

“In Dallas, I dug in pretty firmly against this whole idea of defunding the police and I said, ‘We’re gonna do things differently here,’ and we’ve had different results.”

MSNBC, “Inside With Jen Psaki”:

Former White House Press Secretary used a short segment of her MSNBC show — “Inside with Jen Psaki” — to attack newly-elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), primarily on religious grounds.

Responding to Johnson’s assertion that the Bible was a good summary of his worldview, Psaki accused him of being a “religious fundamentalist” and claimed that his views were “more divisive than divine.”

Psaki’s main issue with Johnson appeared to be his alignment with former President Donald Trump — and she began the segment by comparing Mike Johnson to former Vice President Mike Pence, who just announced that he was bowing out of the 2024 Republican presidential primary.

“One of the key differences between Mike Pence and Mike Johnson is, well, Pence refused to go along with Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the election in 2020, while Mike Johnson was a key architect of that plot,” Psaki lamented. “Apparently there is still a place in the Republican Party for extreme Christian conservatism, so long as it’s paired with a fealty to the former president.”
