Joy Behar said on Thursday that she had a mind to just stop paying federal income taxes altogether if President Donald Trump and his administration continue to make cuts with regard to what those taxes will ultimately fund.

Behar joined her cohosts on ABC’s “The View” for a discussion about the recently passed “Big Beautiful Bill” — and the cuts that came with it — and argued that she should only have to continue paying state taxes “if they want the states to take care of everything.”

“I’d like to know, why am I paying federal taxes if they’re not going to do anything, by the way? Is there anybody that can tell me that?” Behar asked. “If they want the states to take care of everything, I’ll pay state taxes, and not federal taxes. Watch the IRS come after me now.”

Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin jumped in to talk about the role played by the National Security Council — and its acting head, Secretary of State Marco Rubio — when it came to parceling out aid, and cohost Whoopi Goldberg immediately made reference to a recent story about an individual using AI to impersonate Rubio to contact various foreign and domestic officials.

“People are imitating Marco,” she pointed out. “You don’t know who Marco is anymore. You don’t know if that’s Marco you’re talking to or, you know, some kind of new Marco.”

Goldberg recently raised eyebrows when both she and cohost Sunny Hostin claimed that black Americans in 2025 were facing more discrimination and worse circumstances than people living under the thumb of Iran’s Islamist regime.
