President Donald Trump on Friday urged Iran to reach a nuclear agreement to avoid further military conflict following Israel’s overnight strikes on Iran.
“I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal,” Trump said. “Certain Iranian hardliners spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen. They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse!”
Later Friday morning, Trump posted on social media: “Two months ago I gave Iran a 60 day ultimatum to ‘make a deal.’ They should have done it! Today is day 61. I told them what to do, but they just couldn’t get there. Now they have, perhaps, a second chance.”

Trump’s comments come after Israel launched a successful strike on Iran which led to the elimination of three top Iranian military leaders, including Commander of the IRGC’s Air Force Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Hossein Salami, and Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya (Emergency Command) Gholam Al-Rashid.

The operation included more than 200 Air Force jets striking more than 100 targets across Iran, and a secret Mossad-built drone base within Iran destroying Iran’s missile launchers, preventing an effective defense or immediate retaliation by the regime. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), all Israeli Air Force personnel who participated in the attack returned to Israel unharmed.
Trump said that Israel is using the United States’ military equipment, which is the “best and most lethal in the world,” and that there will be “much more to come.”
NEW: Trump is still pushing for Iran to “make a deal, before there is nothing left.”

“There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end,” Trump said. “Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire. No more death, no more destruction, JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”
Prior to the attack, the Trump administration was set to have its sixth round of nuclear talks in Oman on Sunday, despite the rising tensions. Iranian officials have since announced that the negotiations are canceled.
Israel claims it significantly damaged one of Iran’s key nuclear sites, the Natanz Nuclear facility.

This site was believed to have the ability to produce enough weapons-grade uranium for multiple nuclear weapons within a month.
“We struck at the heart of Iran’s nuclear enrichment program. We struck at the heart of Iran’s nuclear weaponization program,” Netanyahu said in live remarks. “We targeted Iran’s main enrichment facility in Natanz.”
In a statement, the IDF said the underground area of the site, which contains a multi-story enrichment hall with centrifuges, electrical rooms, and additional infrastructure, was damaged.
Iran fired its first retaliatory attack on Friday morning, launching more than 100 drones at Israel. The IDF said it had “control over the situation,” and Israel’s Home Front Command told civilians that it was no longer necessary to remain close to bomb shelters. Both the IDF and the Jordanian Air Force reportedly worked to intercept the drones.
None of the Iranian drones have reportedly made it to Israel’s borders.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, responded to Israeli airstrikes in his first public message on Friday, promising a “severe punishment.”

“The Zionist regime has opened its dirty and bloody hand to commit a crime in our beloved country at dawn today, and has revealed its evils more than ever before by targeting residential areas,” he said. “This regime must expect severe punishment. The strong hand of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic will not abandon it, God willing.”
Khamenei confirmed that some Iranian leaders and scientists were killed in the Israeli strikes. He added that their “successors and colleagues will return to their positions immediately.”
“With this crime, the Zionist regime has prepared for itself a bitter and painful fate, and it will surely meet it.”
