Mike Waltz, whom President Trump has nominated to become UN Ambassador, condemned the United Nations, saying it routinely displayed “pervasive antisemitism” as he testified before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations hearing regarding his nomination.

“We must also challenge pervasive antisemitism. From 2015 to 2023, the General Assembly passed 154 resolutions against Israel versus 71 against all other nations combined,” he noted. “UNRWA, in Gaza, with its staff involved in the October 7 massacre, its schools teaching antisemitic hate, must be dismantled. The reappointment of special rapporteur Francesca Albanese —with her calls to boycott American companies doing business with Israel — highlights this bias. President Trump’s executive order, Chairman Risch, your Stand With Israel Act, require withholding funds from such bodies. I fully support Rep. Elise Stefanik’s proposal for an Abraham Accords caucus within the UN.”

Asked what specific actions he could take to “shut down the pervasive antisemitism at the UN,” Waltz replied, “It is pervasive, and I could probably spend the rest of this hearing highlighting the antisemitic activities, one aspect of which is Article VII of the Human Rights council; Israel is the only nation with a standing mandate to highlight its ‘human rights abuses’ every single meeting and it’s been going on for decades.”

More information about how the UN uses Article VII to unfairly target Israel can be found here.

Speaking of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s call for sanctions on the virulently antisemitic UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, Waltz declared, “I support the Secretary’s call for sanctions on the UN Special Rapporteur. I think she is the poster child for antisemitism in the UN. I think we have to take a step back and address and work with both Israel and work with our allies on to why this continues to happen. I understand the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, but I will say over and over again: If Hamas would lay down their arms, if they would surrender, if they would stop sacrificing their own people, the fighting would stop  today.”

Waltz also targeted the UN for its bias toward China, asserting, “It’s absurd that the world’s second largest economy is treated as a developing nation in most UN agencies. That gives China favorable status; China pushes its personnel at all levels; including bodies that set international standards in aviation, telecommunication, IP. U.S. leadership is essential there; America must have a strong voice. If confirmed, I will work with Secretary Rubio to challenge this influence.”
