NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen was on hand in Indianapolis for the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, and the weirdest takeaway for him was the rumor swirling about twice-retired quarterback Tom Brady.

Eisen shared several of the rumors he’d heard while in Indianapolis, but the one that topped his list was that Brady — who has spent the last few weeks sharing Instagram photos of kittens, kids, and even himself stripped down to his skivvies — might make a surprise move from retired … to playing for Miami.

“This one just blew my mind: Tom Brady might not be done after all,” Eisen explained. “A couple people were just like, ‘Hang on, just you wait.’ And I was like, ‘He’s Instagramming out pictures of his cat.’ But it doesn’t look like he’s getting big and fat, does it? Let it play out. Let’s see who wants what.”

Eisen explained that with question marks surrounding the health of Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, Brady would be a natural choice given the fact that he was already living in Florida — albeit in the Tampa Bay area.

“The one place that folks are saying to keep an eye out for is Miami. If the Dolphins, somehow or some way get a doctor’s report or piece of information from a medical evaluation of Tua [Tagovailoa] that he may not be ready to go, and suddenly there’s Tom Brady sitting in Florida, where his family is located and where he can easily locate himself,” Eisen pointed out. “Keep an eye out on that, I was told by a couple birdies at the Combine.”

The Dolphins had reportedly angled for Brady in the past, but reporting from January of 2023 indicated that the team had backed off.

If Brady returns to the game for the 2023 season, it will be his second shot at “un-retiring” after his first attempt at retirement lasted just days. And he may not be the only quarterback with a comeback on his mind: Philip Rivers reportedly reached out to both the 49ers and the Dolphins prior to the end of the 2022 season.
