“The View” host Sara Haines admitted during a recent broadcast that she had actively hidden Donald Trump’s presidency from her children — a feat that she said was made all the more difficult by the fact that they were just learning about presidents and what they did.

Haines explained Tuesday on the ABC midday talk show that she had even gone as far as policing what her kids could see on the news, refusing to allow her children to watch updates if former President Trump was to be the subject. She avoided any mention of the presidency at all until after President Joe Biden won in November of 2020.

“Do you know what my child can’t watch? News,” Haines said. “When you turn it on — I literally had to hide news for four years while Donald Trump was in. Because as they’re learning what a President of the United States is, I didn’t want to say, ‘Yeah, and that’s him right there.'”

“So I couldn’t even announce the president until Biden and Vice President Harris won,” she continued.

Haines shares the table at ABC’s “The View” with several women who fall right in line with that perspective — first and foremost being longtime regular host Whoopi Goldberg, who refuses to even say Donald Trump’s name aloud on the air. Instead, she refers to him in the Harry-Potter-esque terminology: “You Know Who.”

Cohost Sunny Hostin rarely mentions Trump without referring to him as the “twice-impeached” president. And newest cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin — who worked in the Trump administration but quit shortly after the 2020 presidential election — has suggested that despite identifying as a Republican, she would consider voting for a Democrat if it meant she had an opportunity to vote against Trump.
