NextImg:‘The Most Pretentious Thing’: Gwyneth Paltrow Mocked For New Probiotic Video On TikTok

Gwyneth Paltrow is causing a stir once again for posting “pretentious” content on social media.

This time, the Goop founder is being mocked for an ad she posted for probiotics that’s gone viral for all the wrong reasons. Social media users assume Paltrow was paid to do the promotion, which makes them question why the actress used a version with overly loud background noises.

The TikTok video promotes the company Seed, which markets probiotic capsules for adults, teens, and kids. The original video has since been deleted.

The actress begins the promo while sitting in her kitchen, about to swallow a large green pill. “So this is a twenty-four strain probiotic—” she begins, but then is interrupted by a loud sound from somewhere else in the room.

Seemingly undeterred by the commotion, Paltrow plows ahead, saying, “Not the kind that you find in yogurt and stuff like that.” She doesn’t raise her voice, making it difficult to hear what she’s saying over the noise.

Paltrow followed by explaining that her son Moses was steaming milk.

“And it’s so good for bloating and regularity,” she added of the probiotic pills.

Followers couldn’t believe Paltrow would submit that video as a final product rather than redoing it. The video went viral on several social media platforms, including in a reshare by user Alanna Bennett on X. That clip has racked up 1 million views.

She wrote in the video caption, “My new favorite thing is Gwyneth getting paid to do this ad and then delivering…this.”

“Part of me hopes she actually gave them a polished, professional take but they just chose this from the discard pile because they knew I would love it,” one account posted.

“I only saw this ad because people are mocking it so maybe it was the best thing for them,” another admitted.

“‘Moses is steaming some milk’ has got to be the most pretentious thing I’ve heard all summer,” another chimed in.

“genius PR move tho if she did it properly it wouldn’t be talked about anywhere but look at us,” said another commenter.
