PALM BEACH — As President Donald Trump played golf in Palm Beach, the White House announced the date of his first physical since becoming president.
The 78-year-old president’s newly appointed physician, 55-year-old Sean Barbabella, announced the upcoming physical in a statement on Saturday morning.
“President Donald J. Trump will complete his routine annual physical exam next month at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC),” said Barbabella. “The date of his physical exam will be released publicly in the next few weeks.”
Trump appointed his physician earlier this week, according to the Times UK. Barbabella has “extensive combat trauma experience in Afghanistan and Iraq,” the publication reports, linking this fact to the two assassination attempts on the president’s life that took place in the past year. He specializes in emergency and tactical medicine.
The president is currently in Palm Beach, Florida, where he will spend the weekend. On Saturday evening, the president attended the MAGA INC. Candlelight Finance Dinner, and heads back to Washington, D.C., on Sunday night.

During President Joe Biden’s administration, speculation about his health swirled after his debate performance against Trump. Records showed that a Parkinson’s Disease expert repeatedly visited the White House during 2023 and 2024, but White House physician Kevin O’Connor stated in a July letter that Biden has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual physical. O’Connor was also a family business associate and Biden “family intimate,” as POLITICO described him.
“That compounds the problem,” historian Matthew Algeo told the publication at the time. “You’re working for the guy you’re examining, and he’s your buddy. It’s just a lose-lose situation.”
