Ousted Fox News host Tucker Carlson said Thursday that the media’s apparent desperation to silence Democratic presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed fears over his bid to make President Joe Biden a one-term executive.
Carlson’s 6th Twitter episode addressed the way the media has treated the nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy over the years. He argued that, in some instances, Kennedy — who has cultivated a bit of a reputation as a conspiracy theorist, especially with regard to his stance on vaccines — had received heavier scrutiny than even former President Donald Trump when it came to his presidential campaign.

“There’s never been a candidate for president the media hated more than Robert F. Kennedy Jr,” Carlson said, noting that most people — especially in recent years — probably believed that title should be reserved for Trump.
“You thought that title belonged to Donald Trump. Of course, it must, but go check the coverage. Trump got a gentle scalp massage by comparison when he announced,” he continued, and he went on to compare the media coverage directed at Trump — when he first announced his 2016 presidential campaign — to the coverage aimed at Kennedy when he announced his 2024 bid.
“When Trump rolled out his presidential campaign in 2015, the New York Times waited until the 17th paragraph of the story to attack him. ‘But as well known as he is,’ the paper said at the time, ‘Trump is also widely disliked.’ And then they cited a poll to back it up. That was the attack on Trump,” Carlson said.
By comparison, the NYT went straight for the jugular in its coverage of Kennedy’s announcement. “Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced a presidential campaign on Wednesday built on re-litigating Covid-19 shutdowns and shaking Americans’ faith in science.”

“‘Shaking Americans’ faith in science,'” Carlson repeated. “Imagine if you were an ordinary New York Times subscriber reading that over coffee in your pre-war, rent-controlled duplex on Columbus Avenue. You’d think Bobby Kennedy just declared war on the Enlightenment. ‘My fellow Americans, I have come to shake your faith in science. Join me as I drag our nation back to the Medieval period.’ You’d be appalled.”
In the weeks since his campaign was announced, Kennedy has risen in the polls — but has done little to dispel claims that he still dabbles in conspiracy theories. Just last week, he told Newsmax host Greta Van Susteren that both China and the United States were developing ethnic bioweapons that could target people based on race. He has also continued to claim that his uncle was assassinated by the CIA, and that he would have to be careful if he wanted to avoid the same fate.
